Rally - Electric Rates

CITIZENS’ RALLY TO DEMAND ACTION BY THE LEGISLATURE ON THE REDUCTION OF  ELECTRIC RATES

TUESDAY, JANUARY 5TH 11 AM

AT THE HARRISBURG CAPITOL

Pennsylvania electrical rates have increased or will increase by 30-60% by the end of 2010. This means a $200.00 per month electric bill will now cost you $260.00 - $320.00. This is due to the terms of the deregulation bill, passed in 1996. This bill promised to produce lower rates by the people that enacted it. They were wrong! We will now experience higher rates under the current pricing method.

Electricity deregulation will produce on the average, 53% higher rates than regulated states. Several deregulated states have re-regulated or taken other steps to introduce competition into the wholesale electricity market. The Pennsylvania legislature has done nothing. We have to let them know that this is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. Without action by the voters, we can expect no relief. We hold the power.

Here is what you can do:

1. Attend a rally at the state capitol in Harrisburg on January 5, 2010 at the East Wing Rotunda at 11:00 A.M. This rally and hearing is sponsored by Taxpayers and Ratepayers United led by Gene Stilp. Speakers will include Gene as well as Eric Epstein of Rock the Capitol, Dennis Baylor of the Pennsylvania Accountability Project and Herb Braden of Ratepayers’ Caucus.

2. Demand action on electric rates from your legislators.

3. Become an active worker in the 2010 election. Work now to nominate and support candidates who will correct the problem of higher rates.

Pennsylvania will lose businesses and jobs to states who have corrected this problem.

Call Steve Macchia of Ratepayers’ Caucus at 717-838-8726 or e-mail stevemac99@verizon.net for information and to let us know how many will attend.
