Citizens' Caucus Presentation - Pennsylvania Economy - Near the Bottom Nationally and Still Falling

Pennsylvania ranks near the bottom in a number of economic measurements: 33rd in job growth, 40th in personal income growth and 40th in domestic migration – residents are leaving and they are turning off the lights  The discussion centers around two alternatives – to reduce taxes and spending or increase spending on economic development programs. Pennsylvania has chosen to increase spending. In a little over a decade, Pennsylvania state and local expenditures have increased at an average rate of six percent – twice that of the national average.

However, growth is strongest in states with lower taxes. States spending increased tax money on economic growth have actually lagged in growth.
